I have a clock/barometer which needs servicing/restoring

Can you service/repair/restore it?

Yes.  We have the expertise and ability necessary to work successfully with all types of clocks and barometers.  See the servicing section of the website for further details.

What does a service include?

Our servicing procedure is very thorough and covers every part of the movement.  See the servicing section of the website for further details.

How often should my clock be serviced?

If your clock is running reliably there is no need to have it serviced.  It needs servicing only when it becomes unreliable or erratic.  See the servicing section of the website for further details.

Will you be able to get the parts?

As we have the expertise and ability to be able to produce clock movements from scratch, making or repairing a part for a clock presents no problems.

How long will it take?

Because each clock and its condition are unique, it is impossible to quote a standard time.  However, we always try to give you an approximate idea of how long it will take.  See the servicing section of the website for further details.

How much will it cost?

Because each clock and its condition are unique, it is impossible to quote a standard cost.  However, we will always give you a cost estimate for your agreement before we start any work.  See the servicing section of the website for further details.

Do you give a guarantee?

Yes.  We are so confident in the quality of our work that we give a three-year guarantee which includes parts and labour.  See the servicing section of the website for further details.

Do you collect/deliver?

Most clocks for servicing are brought in and collected by customers in person and there is short-term parking at the side of our shop.  If necessary we can sometimes collect and deliver but this may incur a charge.

Can I talk to you about what I need?

Yes.  We are always happy to discuss their needs with customers.  Please see the Contact Us section of the website for details.  If we are not able to deal with your query straightaway, we always endeavour to respond as soon as we can.

Do you have the right expertise/experience?

Chris Bessent, the Clockmaker, has been working with clocks since the late 1970s.  Please see the Home page of the website for further details of his career and experience to date.

What makes your servicing special/thorough?

We will never just repair part of a movement (e.g. replace a broken spring).  As the movement has to be dismantled to gain access it makes sense to check for and remove any wear at the same time.  This is also the only basis on which we can give a three-year guarantee.  See the servicing section of the website for further details..

Do you offer good value for money?

We believe that we offer excellent value for money in that your clock is carefully restored following a thorough check-up to determine what is needed and is then guaranteed for a period of three years.

I want to buy a clock/barometer

What types do you sell?

We sell all types of clock and barometer.

What do you have in stock at the moment?

We aim to have examples covering the full range in stock at any given time.

Are all your clocks/barometers fully restored?

Yes.  Cases and movements are fully restored prior to sale.  Please see the restoration section of the website for further details.

Can I have some information about what is available?

Please see the sales section of the website for further details.  If you are making a special journey, it is always advisable to contact us first to confirm that a particular example is still available.

Can I talk to you about what I need?

Yes. We are always pleased to give advice on what type or example may be suitable.  Please see the Contact Us section of the website for details.

Do you give a guarantee?

All sales carry a three-year guarantee.  Please see the servicing section of the website for further details.

Do you deliver?

We would expect to deliver larger items such as a longcase clock and there is no additional charge within a reasonable distance of Hungerford.  This would also include setting up the clock once it is in its new location.  Smaller items are normally collected by customers in person however we can sometimes deliver these by agreement.

Do you offer help with setting up my clock once I get it home?

If we have agreed to deliver your clock then this includes setting it up for you.  For clocks which are collected we provide the necessary guidance so that you can set it up.  If there are problems in setting up, these can usually be resolved by telephone.  If this is not successful we will provide the necessary support but this may incur additional cost if we have to make a visit.

Do you offer good value for money?

We believe that all our clocks and barometers represent good value for money in that they are fully restored and carry a three-year guarantee.

I want to sell a clock/barometer

Do you buy clocks/barometers?

Yes.  However, our needs will be determined by our current stock levels and so we cannot guarantee that we will be able to buy any particular example.

Can I talk to you about it?

Of course.  Please see the Contact Us section of the website for details of how to get in touch.

How will I know you are offering me a fair price?

In making you an offer, we take into consideration how much restoration it needs and the likely selling price of your clock or barometer.  We are happy to share these details with you so that you can understand the offer we are making.
